Novomol
Formed in 2017, Novomol is a Germany-based life science start-up company focused on the continued advancement of our completely novel groundbreaking computational EDEN platform to discover new safe and efficacious drugs.
Novomol was founded by the chemists Hans-Joachim Boehm und Richard Maurer. The innovative EDEN platform was completely developed in-house. We believe that this proprietary new approach offers significant advantages over existing tools. Our experience so far indicates that it is highly accurate, very fast und broadly applicable to a wide range of drug discovery projects.

Hans-Joachim (Jochen) Böhm is co-founder and managing director of Novomol. He is a chemist and a well recognized scientific leader in the field of computer-based drug design.
Before creating Novomol, Hans-Joachim was Global Head of Small Molecule Research at Roche. Prior to this, he served in various positions across the Roche organization including the President and Research Site Head of Roche Palo Alto as well as the Head of Non-Clinical Development at Roche Basel. Before joining Roche in 1996, Hans-Joachim held positions with BASF in Ludwigshafen as a Computational Chemist as well as Siemens in Munich, in the field of Microelectronics. He obtained his Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe in 1984.
Since 2003, he is Adjunct Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Basel. He is also a member of the Swiss Science and Innovation Council (SWIR) since 2013.
Richard Maurer is co-founder and managing director of Novomol. He is a chemist and a successful entrepreneur with a strong track record in successfully establishing and running retail businesses.
After obtaining his Ph.D in Physical Chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe in 1986, he worked at BASF in Ludwigshafen from 1987-1993 as Head of Surface Analysis and Basefilm for storage media. He then founded his first retail company in Germany. After running the company very successfully for more than 10 years, he sold the company to form a new retail company which again became a success and is well recognized in the region.
Since 2004, he is owner and MD of an interior design studio.
